FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How many guests can the castle host?

    Up to 120 guests for ceremony, reception and dinner, 180 guests for dancing. We offer accommodation for up to 107 guests across the estate.


  • Is the castle exclusive?

    Yes, all weddings (despite their party size) are given exclusive use of the castle, grounds and accommodation. If you do not take the full accommodation available on-site, this will stay empty for the duration of your wedding. You are guaranteed exclusive use at Drumtochty Castle.


  • What is included in the venue hire?

    Two nights accommodation in 11 castle rooms for up to 23 guests, another 82 guests can be accommodated on the estate at an additional cost.

    Exclusive use of the castle, St. Palladius Church and estate gardens.

    Afternoon tea for the bridal party on arrival.

    Full Scottish breakfast on both mornings.

    Hot beverages served throughout your stay to castle guests.

    Crystal glassware, gold cutlery, candelabras, linens, tables, chairs and staffing.


  • Can we supply our own drinks?

    Couples supply their own fizz, wine and beer for the reception and dinner. We will give you recommended quantities to suit your wedding party to ensure drinks keep flowing. For the bar you have two options: couples fully stock the bar with your favourites drinks & mixers to provide a free bar to your guests. Or,the venue stocks the bar and we charge your guests per drink, as a cash bar.

    The corkage fee for all weddings is £12 per person (over 18) for the duration of your stay to cover all handling, storage, service, ice and garnishes. This cost is chargeable whether you or the venue stocks the bar.


  • Will there be someone to help co-ordinate on the wedding day?

    Here at Drumtochty Castle we are here throughout the whole planning process, from the first viewing, to your big day, supporting and advising every step of the way. Our team is also on hand for the duration of your stay to ensure everything goes exactly as planned.


  • Is there a minimum number of guests required?

    Yes all of our weekend dates have a minimum number of 80 guests (March-December) 45 guests (January & February) and our mid-week dates have 45 guests (May-August) and 23 (January-April, September-December) minimum guests.


  • Can we bring in our own outside caterers?

    At Drumtochty Castle we are very fortunate to have our own in-house resident chefs who do all of the catering on your wedding day, therefore ensuring the food is always at the highest standard. Our exciting and varied menus offer you a wide selection of dishes to choose from and meet all different tastes. We also offer delicious catering options for the night before the wedding as well.


  • Is there a PA system in the ballroom? Does the castle provide a master of ceremonies?

    Yes there is a PA system in the ballroom, which comes with a wireless mic for speeches, and can also be used to play music from a mobile phone or tablet. It would be our pleasure to be your MC on the wedding day, we will make announcements, direct guests and introduce speeches.


  • Can guests book their accommodation direct?

Guests book their stay directly through the couple. As an exclusive use venue all of the accommodation is yours to use and allocate to your guests if they wish to stay.
